In the Prado Museum
Sometimes my works are copies of masterpieces commissioned by my clients, while some others I just enjoy the pleasure of facing the challenge of copying the great maestros to learn from their wisdom and technique.
Lately, I have personalized my copies by introducing the so called “trompe-l’oeil” technique as the framings of the paintings. This technique aims to trick the eye by playing with the architectonical environment, the perspective, the shading and other optical effects. I really enjoy seeing the reaction of people when they realize that the framing is part of the painting itself.
Copying from various museums
This video is a sample that in addition to the Prado I also get inspired by other museums to copy the great masters of painting.
